I remember when I first started hiking and camping. I was in my 20s and getting my associates degree as an international student in Salt Lake.  Finances were really tight, and I had zero outdoor gear or apparel.

I remember my first time camping in Southern Utah. It was fall and night temperatures were already really low and bitter cold. I had less than ideal borrowed gear with me, and regular clothing that I would wear around town and to school. I have to say that I still treasure those memories. The lack of gear or appropriate clothing didn’t stop me from getting out and enjoying the outdoors.  All you need is enthusiasm for adventure and being outside, and a great company of course.

Fast forward many years and now it feels surreal to be camping again in Utah desert in November with all the comforts, gadgets, and clothes designed for low temperatures and performance. It took us some time to get to this point. Truth be told, we still don’t own a house but we kept investing into our adventure lifestyle first.

My husband says that he want to live in a tiny house…(big pause) with a big gear shed near it. I roll my eyes at this, but, truth be told, we do love gear, and getting new gear or outdoor apparel is like Christmas every time. Well, guess what? It is actually almost Christmas. So for all the gear and outdoor enthusiasts out there I prepared a list of our favorite items and brands.

Gear and adventure apparel can be an investment as it’s not cheap, but if you take good care of it, it will serve you for a long time on your adventures.

Helinox Sunset Camp Chair We’ve been using Helinox chairs for a long time. They pack up very small and don’t take up much space in the back of our van. The Sunset model is very comfortable as you can lean back and rest your head.

Helinox Rocking Feet are an awesome addition. I love rocking chairs in general so it was a nice addition. These rocking feet are compatible with Helinox One Chair, Sunset Chair and Savanna Chair. Another awesome bonus is that you can use this chair with rocking feet on softer sand without having the legs of the chair sink in. If you ever experienced it, you know the pain.

Helinox Table is also very compact when packed but provides plenty of surface space for dining or working outside.

Dometic CFX3 45 Powered Cooler We love Dometic powered coolers so much that we got another one. We have another much bigger one that is built in our van, but we also wanted a portable one that we use as a freezer now. This way we have loads of food and fresh produce to keep us off the grid for a while. We that we can put it in our 4Runner when we explore places where our van can’t make it.

Dometic 40 Ah Portable Lithium Battery This is a great portable battery that will charge your cooler or other electronics for about 40 hours(depending on use) .It also has a plug in for solar. We love how compact and portable it is.

Pendleton Yakima Camp Throw Classic warm wool blanket that lives in our van, and gets used a lot once the temperatures drop..
